A Vincennes K-9 unit was able to locate a vehicle thief. On Sunday, around 3:05 AM, Vincennes Police were notified by the Vincennes University Police Department that a vehicle had struck a pole at 6/Sycamore. It was reported that no one was around the vehicle. Vincennes PD had previous knowledge that Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a vehicle theft about ten minutes prior just North of Vincennes.
Vincennes Police responded to the scene and determined that it was the vehicle that had been reported stolen. The reporting party identified the suspect at the time of the report. A Vincennes PD K-9 unit began a track from the vehicle. After about a 1/4 mile track, the officers located a female attempting to flee the area. 25-year-old Madison Johnson from Illinois was detained without incident and was placed under arrest by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for Auto Theft, Operating While Intoxicated, and leaving the scene of an accident.
