The Major League Baseball players’ union is reportedly considering a plan proposed by MLB that would delay the start of the season by a month and shorten the season to 154 games. Opening Day would be moved back to April 28th due to the coronavirus pandemic, and under the plan, the playoffs would be expanded from 10 teams to 14. Players would get 100 percent of salaries despite playing eight fewer games. As it stands, pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to Spring Training February 17th.
