The Loogootee Lady Lions are state bound for a second straight year and once again their opponent will be Pioneer for the 1A state championship Saturday in Indianapolis. Loogootee advanced with a 43 to 33 win over Greenwood Christian at Jasper on Saturday. The Lady Lions are 20 and 4 while Pioneers comes in at 24 and 4. The IHSAA Boys Basketball Sectional draw took place last night. The boys sectional tournament will begin on Tuesday, March 2nd.
In 1A, the toughest tournament in the state at North Daviess, Orleans will play Shoals in game one. Barr Reeve opens against Washington Catholic in game two on Tuesday night. In the semi finals on Friday, Loogootee will face the winner of Orleans and Shoals, while North Daviess will play the winner of the Barr Reeve vs WC game.
In 3A at the Hatchet House in Washington, the Hatchets have a tough opening match up against Sullivan in the only game Tuesday night. Friday in the semi finals, Pike Central will play Vincennes Lincoln, while Princeton awaits the winner of Washington and Sullivan.
In 2A at Eastern Greene, South Knox plays Linton in the opening round, then in the semis, North Knox will play Mitchell, while Eastern Greene will face the winner of South Knox and Linton. Once again the boys basketball sectionals kick off on Tuesday, March 2nd.
The Washington Hatchets fell on the road at South Knox Saturday night 52 to 47. Washington was led by Trey Reed with 19 points. The Hatchets fall to 5 and 11 on the season.
