The Daviess County Commissioners met on Tuesday for their regular meeting. The board heard from the highway department and agreed to place a temporary 10-ton load limit on truck routes due to post winter weather conditions. The limit is only expected to remain in place about a week. Signs will be posted in affected areas.
The highway department also spoke about the recent winter storm and told the commissioners that salt supply was low. The Commissioners agreed to replenish the supply and thanked the department for all their hard work in clearing the roads. Phil Cornelius noted that none of the county employees complained during the overtime hours. He said they were focused on getting the roads safe for the county.
The board also approved a grant application from the Daviess County Airport. The funds received will be used for upcoming projects. One of the projects would repair older pavement on the runway and the other would install a GPS approach from the south.
In other business, the Commissioners agreed to renew software from Barracuda which protects company emails and network security. Lastly, they signed a resolution supporting House Bill 1381. The bill regards recognizing state authority when installing wind and solar energy units in Indiana counties.
