A community Pep Rally and send off is set for Saturday Morning in Montgomery for the Barr Reeve Vikings as they travel to Loogootee for the 1A Regional.  The Rally begins at 7:30am with donuts provided by The Bakery House and WAMW, music, and lots of giveaways in the Barr Reeve Transportation Barn next to the school.  Viking Fans are encouraged to come out for a big send off and don’t forget to grab your WAMW Viking Button while you are there. 

Barr Reeve will face Trinity Lutheran in game one at 10am Saturday morning.  Our live coverage starts around 9:30am on The General 95.9 / 101.3 / AM 1580 and worldwide at WAMW AM FM dot Com.  Game two on Saturday will feature Lanesville against Evansville Day School, with the championship Saturday night at 7:30pm back at Jack Butcher Arena. 

Sports Illustrated columnist Pat Forde was in Washington yesterday to do some research for an upcoming feature story he is working on for next week.  We had a chance to visit with Forde and learn more about his visit to town… 

Forde went on to tell us more about the local angle he is researching about the story of Hatchet Champions from 1930…

Boys Basketball All-SWIAC conference team was announced yesterday.  Making the team from North Daviess were Jaylen Mullen, Daryn Lengacher, and Ike Wolford.   

Blue Chip Boys Basketball All-Conference team members this year include, Brycen Graber, Curt Hopf, and Hagen Knepp from Barr-Reeve.  Silas Bauer, Peyton Bledsoe, and Jordan Wildman from Loogootee.  Holtman Doades from North Knox.  Levi Pendley and Reece Sherrill from Shoals.  Dakota Candler, and Garrett Holscher from South Knox and Coltin Page at Wood Memorial. 

Butler overcame a 19-point deficit to defeat Xavier 70-69 in overtime the Big East Tournament Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Bulldogs guard Chuck Harris drained two free throws with four seconds left in overtime to give 10th seeded Butler the victory over the seventh-seeded Musketeers. The Bulldogs advanced to take on second-seeded and 17th ranked Creighton tonight at 6 p.m. in New York. 

North Carolina went on a 42-4 run in the second half and defeated Notre Dame 101-59 Wednesday in the second round of the ACC Tournament. The loss marked the highest margin of defeat for Notre Dame since a 58-point loss to UCLA on December 22, 1971. 

Indiana opens the Big Ten Tournament tonight at 6:30 against Rutgers at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Hoosiers have dropped five in row and will try to avoid ending the season on a six-game skid. Indiana dropped both regular season matchups against the Scarlet Knights. IU coach Archie Miller said Wednesday that he does not expect for sophomore guard Armaan Franklin to play due to a foot injury. The 10th seeded Hoosiers are 12-14, while the seventh-seeded Scarlet Knights enter play 14-10. The winner will play Illinois in the quarterfinals Friday evening.
