On Sunday, March 7th, 2021, LaVon “Penny” Hoalt, loving wife, mother of four, grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of seven, passed away at the age of 92 in Charlotte, NC.
Penny was born July 10th, 1928 in Plainville, Indiana to Lilly and Grover Pinnick. She married WWII Veteran Harvey Hoalt of Vincennes, IN in May of 1947 and enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2009. Throughout their life together, they raised three daughters, Janee, Carolyn, and Lisa, and one son, David. Their family frequently gathered at their home in Vincennes, where many happy memories were made.
Penny will always be remembered for being an excellent cook. Her Sunday suppers were loved by all and her recipes will be handed down for generations. She was a stay at home mother most of her life, but went to work in 1975 at Franklin Elementary School preparing meals for school children for many years. Penny also loved to bird watch, play cards and dominoes, and collect decorative plates from all over which lined her kitchen walls.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, five of her six siblings, and her husband, Harvey. She is survived by her sister Ruby, her four children, and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at Goodwin Family Funeral Home on Broadway St. from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm w graveside services to follow at 2:30 pm in Memorial Park Cemetery. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of LaVon Hoalt.
