Jerry Harrell

Jerry D. Harrell, 78, passed away at 9:58 pm on March 15, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Jerry was born on October 27, 1942, in Vincennes the son of Ercel Odis and Lillian Jane (Small) Harrell. He married Judy Risch on September 4, 1965.

Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Wheatland High School and was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. He attended Vincennes University and spent over thirty years in the feed and fertilizer industry. Jerry retired from South Knox School Corporation after many years as a custodian. He enjoyed fishing on the river, antique tractors, antique tractor shows, and going to flea markets. The most important thing to Jerry though, was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Harrell of Wheatland, son, Mike Harrell and his wife Mary of Rural Washington, IN; daughter, Nancy Ann Wise and her husband Brian of Freelandville; sister, Linda “Sue” Miley and her husband Don of Wheatland; his grandchildren, Michael Harrell and his wife Taryn, Michelle Harrell and her wife Kimberly Harrell, Austin Sturgeon and his wife Crystal, Hunter Sturgeon and his wife Cassandra, Gordon Sturgeon; his great-grandchildren, Braxton Thompson, Spencer Harrell, Gryffin Harrell, Phoenix Harrell, Gavin Sturgeon, Tryton Sturgeon, Eleanor Rayne Sturgeon, due in May, and Aurora Ember Sturgeon. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Frank Osborne, and his sister, Lydia “Lou” Stafford.

Friends may visit with Jerry’s family from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 2:00 pm on Friday, March 19, 2021, at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, 1339 East Governor’s Road, Monroe City, IN 47557. Rev. Brenda Wick will officiate, and Jerry will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Back to School Mall.
