RTC Communications is working to bring broadband to every area in Daviess County. At yesterdays Daviess County Commissioners meeting, the board heard the reading of an ordinance that would designate the entire county as an Infrastructure Development Zone. This ordinance would provide a 10-year property tax exemption for the project. Executive Director of the Daviess County EDC, Bryant Niehoff says the need for broadband has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic….
The project wil cost about $20 million. CEO of RTC Communications Kirk Lehman says they have already spent several million in Daviess County…
The Commissioners passed the ordinance. Officials also noted that having broadband accessibility in every home in the county could bring home values up by about $5,500 each. RTC is hoping to finish the project on the next 36 months.
