The Washington Hatchets opened the baseball season on the road last night with a win at Evansville Harrison 12 to 5. Ian Hill and Miguel Cruz led the Hatchet offense with four hits apiece, as the Hatchets mounted 12 runs on 17 hits. Trey Reed got the win with one earned run in five innings while Ashton Ostby came on for the save. The Hatchets play at home tonight against Jasper. First pitch at 5:30pm, with pregame coverage at 5:15pm tonight on Memories 107.9fm. The Hatchet JV also grabbed the win last night 18 to 9.

Indiana coach Mike Woodson got two more recruiting wins Wednesday, as two high school prospects announced they will stay committed to the Hoosiers. Class of 2021 signee Logan Duncomb told Inside the Hall he remains committed to IU and will make his way to Bloomington in June. The four-star center out of Cincinnati is IU’s lone signee for the current senior class. Indianapolis junior C.J. Gunn is also “firmly committed” to Indiana after meeting with Woodson, his father told the IndyStar. Gunn is a four-star guard who plays for Lawrence North High School. The 6-foot-5 Gunn committed to IU in February over offers from Cincinnati, Kansas State, Missouri and Xavier.
