Mrs. Grace Rose Charles, Washington, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, April 20, 2021. She was 86. Grace was born June 14, 1934 in Knox County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Oliver A. and Minnie (Schooley) Charles.
Grace attended Washington High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1952. She had been employed as a Physical Therapy technician at Aurora Regional Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado before moving back to Indiana.
In her leisure time, Grace enjoyed bowling, reading, playing cards (especially Euchre) and shopping at thrift stores. She also enjoyed writing poetry and had written a couple of songs. She was a people person who looked forward to spending time with her friends. She also deeply loved her family and the time they could spend together.
Grace is survived by her children. Cathy Colbert and Debra Bright; five grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Beverly Polzin and Gail Burkhart as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her sons, Rodney Bright and Paul Bright; her siblings, Marcella Gray, Gloria Bassler, Oliver Lee (Bud) Charles and Steve Charles.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 26, 2021 at Gill Funeral Service, Washington, with burial following at Wheatland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Monday at the funeral home.
