Doris Price

Mrs. Doris Price, life-long resident of Washington, passed away on the afternoon of Monday, May 10, 2021 at Emerald Place. She was 97, Doris was born July 19, 1923 in Washington a daughter of the late Vernon A. and Hazel V. (Edwards) Hastings.
Doris attended Washington High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1941. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher for 40 years and was chairman of the Children’s Church department for over 6 years. She also was instrumental in organizing church dinners. She also was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School class. Doris loved children and as a result she served as a leader in the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls.
Doris spent much of her leisure time sewing and quilting, camping, reading and caring for her flowers. She enjoyed basketball and was an avid fan of both the Boston Celtics and Indiana University Hoosiers. She would tell you her greatest accomplishment was her children and family whom she dearly loved. Known for her fried chicken, she prepared Sunday dinners for many years for her family to enjoy.
Doris is survived by her children, Arthur (Cheryl) Price, Paula (Leo) Watimena, Ralph (Lynette) Price and Janet (Tom) Ringer; her grandchildren, Anthony (Tracey) Price, Alicia (Mark) Dobbyn, Adam (Chelsea) Price, Seth (Amy) Price, Luke (Kayla) Price, John Price, Sally (Geoff) Taylor, Carrie (James) Austin, Mollie (Paul) Reidy, Hannah (Dakota) Presler, Emma Ringer, Chelsea (Nate) Welch and Sadie Ringer; 25 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Arthur Lester Price and her siblings, David E. Hastings, Elizabeth Brennan and Millie Moore.
A service of family eulogies will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Gill Funeral Home, Washington with burial following at Sugarland Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
