The Loogootee Lions Softball team captured their own regional last night defeating NE Dubois 7-6. Next up for Loogootee a meeting with West Washington Saturday morning at the North Daviess semi state. First pitch is 11am. The other semi final will have Clay City taking on Hauser. Willson Contreras and Patrick Wisdom each hit two-run home runs, and the Chicago Cubs beat the San Diego Padres 4-3 Tuesday night at Wrigley Field. Contreras’ 445-foot bomb to center field gave the Cubs a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning they would not relinquish.
Andrew McCutchen homered twice, and the Philadelphia Phillies clobbered the Cincinnati Reds 17-3 at Great American Ballpark.

The Indianapolis Indians scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth and went on to defeat their division rival Columbus Clippers 5-3 at Victory Field Tuesday night.
The Seattle Storm defeated the Indiana Fever 88-73 Tuesday night in Seattle. The Fever fell to 1-8 on the season and have lost four straight.
