Donna Jean Lawyer, 77, of Huntsville, Alabama, left this life to join the Church Triumphant on February 22, 2020, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born on March 20, 1944, to Lowell Bryant Darnell and Helen Irene Darnell in Wichita Falls, Texas. Her family relocated to Rantoul, Illinois where she met and married her first husband, Jeffrey V. Wolfe who preceded her in death. Donna then married John David Lawyer.
Donna Jean worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Rantoul. Her job transferred her to Redstone Arsenal where she retired after 32 years of service. Donna Jean believed in serving others. While in Illinois, she was a Hospice Volunteer. She graduated from Parkland College, Champaign, IL and Calhoun Community College of Athens, Alabama. She was a proud member of ESA, Beta Pi Chapter #2792 of Huntsville, who are avid supporters of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donna Jean was an active member of the University Church of the Nazarene in Huntsville, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory: her husband of 35 years, John David Lawyer; her sons, Jefferey Neal Wolfe (Cheryl), Queen Creek, AZ and David Bryant Wolfe, Rantoul, IL; brother, Lowell B. Darnell, Jr. (Tammy), Rantoul, IL; sister, JoEllen Burdette, Urbana, IL and her beloved Chihuahua children, Katie Sue and Gizmo Lawyer; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Donna Jean will be laid to rest following a graveside service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Plainville Cemetery with Ashley Shurtz officiating.
