Washington Community Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Caleb Cherry as the incoming principal of Lena Dunn Elementary. A graduate of Oakland City University with a BA in Elementary and Special Education and an MS in School Administration, Mr. Cherry brings fourteen years of educational experience, most recently working as a Special Education teacher in the Pike County School Corporation.
Superintendent Dr. Dan Roach stated that Mr. Cherry’s experience as a leader and special education teacher was important to the search committee. “The
entire school community is pleased to have Caleb Cherry joining the Hatchet family. His educational background and enthusiasm will be appreciated by our stakeholders as we
continue to move Lena Dunn students forward educationally.”
Mr. Cherry’s references speak to his passion for helping students be successful. Mr. Matthew Malin, Principal of Oakland City Elementary, wrote, “Mr. Cherry is an outstanding person who is very honest and trustworthy. I feel that Mr. Cherry has a passion for young people and wants to see them succeed. I know that he will approach this position with passion, class, and integrity.”
In his application for the position, Mr. Cherry writes, “My mission is to continue improving the lives of students. Building healthy relationships with students is, and always will be, the most important thing to me.
