The Daviess County Council met on Wednesday for their regular meeting.
The council heard a request from Montgomery Town Board President Mike Healey. The town of Montgomery was requesting $1.2 million in ARPA funds for a town-wide sewage project. The overall project will cost about $5 million and must be completed to get infrastructure up to state codes. The council agreed to fund $500,000 of the project pending approval from the Daviess County Commissioners.
The Council also approved a Care’s Act reimbursement request from the Daviess County Health Department for the purchase of additional syringes. While speaking with the council, Kellie Streeter noted that they had plenty of supplies and additional money coming in for COVID relief. Streeter also noted that the state and local Health Department are working to get younger residents vaccinated.
In addition, the council also approved a Care’s Act reimbursement request in the amount of $23,650 from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department for a push button alert system. They also approved a request of $24,950 for a baggage scanner and metal detector to be installed in the courthouse.
