A Dubois County man was jailed Sunday after a police chase.
A Dubois County deputy and a state trooper were looking into an incident on 4th and Main in Dubois when they heard a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. When officers tried to make contact the car sped up and ignored police almost hitting an officer. Police gave chase and while in pursuit, one officer ran off the roads and hit a tree totaling the cruiser.
The suspect was identified as Clayton Kern of Birdseye and he was later arrested at his home. He was charged with resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness and criminal mischief. He was also charged with DWI and minor consuming. Police say Kern had a BAC of .16.
