The Daviess County Council gave final approval to move forward with the Central 911 dispatch center last week.
The plan was previously approved by the Daviess County Commissioners and the City of Washington.
Daviess County Sheriff Gary Allison said that the project is something that seems to be wanted by all involved.
Councilman Mike Myers noted that the new dispatch center will increase improved reaction time.
Current dispatchers with City of Washington and Daviess County will all be eligible for employment.
The project will feature a 65/35 cost share between the city and the county with each party putting forth $250,000 for start up costs.
The goal is to have it up and running buy January 1, 2022.
