IINDYCAR driver Helio Castroneves will return for the full 2022 NTT INDYCAR Series. Castroneves will drive the number six car, an AutoNation/Sirius XM Honda for the Meyer Shank Racing. Earlier this season, Castroneves became only the fourth driver in history to take the checkered flag at the Indianapolis 500 for a fourth time. The relatively new team has two podium finished, along with an Indy 500 win to its record.
The Detroit Tigers’ winning streak was extended to seven games on Thursday afternoon as they defeated the Rangers, 7-5. Eric Haase opened the scoring for Detroit with a 3-run first inning homerun. Texas was able to get within two runs in the sixth, before the Detroit bullpen shut the door. Cleveland led 4-2 in the ninth inning, before the Rays rallied to tie the game. Austin Meadows had the game winning RBI as Tampa Bay won 5 to 4 in ten innings.
The Cubs and Cardinals wrapped up a four game series on Thursday. The Cardinals opened up a quick three run lead after three innings. Dylan Carlson led off the game with a solo shot, and Nolan Arenado had a two-run homer in the third. Similar to the past two nights, the Cubs fought back. In the fourth, Jake Marisnick doubled home Baez and Wisdom to cut the lead to 3-2. That score would hold the remainder of the ball game. Kwang Hyun Kim earned his sixth win of the season, while Adbert Alzolay was charged with his tenth loss on the year.
The Big Ten Media Days kicked off on Thursday in Indianapolis. On Thursday, seven coaches spoke along with a limited number of their players. In addition, Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren addressed the media to begin the day. Representatives from both Indiana schools are expected to be in attendance this afternoon. Indiana’s Tom Allen is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Purdue’s Jeff Brohm will speak at 12:15 p.m.
