Washington’s City Council reviewed requests from the community last night.
During the time for patron statements, Mary Wimmenauer asked the Council if they could permit recreational vehicles besides golf carts to use on city streets. Council president Alan Brown told Wimmenauer that at the time the ordinance was passed, state law permitted only golf carts on city streets. Mayor David Rhoads asked Police Chief Derrick Devine to check into current state law.
Following the City Council meeting, Washington’s Board of Public Works and Safety tabled a request for a sign warning motorists of an autistic child in the Grove Street area. The request was made over the phone, but the Mayor’s office has been unable to contact the person who made the request and they did not appear at the meeting.
