The Washington Football team will kick off the 2021 season at home on Saturday night as they face McClean County Kentucky in week two of the football season. Kick off at Hatchet Hollow is set for 7pm. The Hatchets did not play last week due to illness, and this week was an open week on the schedule. Thanks to the athletic department and staff for securing a week two match up. Live coverage begins at 6:45pm Saturday night on Memories 107.9fm.
Last night the Washington girls soccer team hosted Evansville Central at the sports complex. The Central Bears came out attacking and scored the first goal early in the first half and never looked back as Washington fell 4 to 2. The Lady Hatchets drop to 2-1 with their first loss and will take on Rivet on Thursday.
The Washington boys soccer game with Pike Central scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled. No make up date is set at this time. Several Charger players are out on quarantine.
The Cincinnati Reds kick off a big series on the road tonight at Milwaukee. The Reds and Brewers pre-game begins at 7:40pm tonight on the General 95.9 / 101.3fm.
Rafael Ortega launched a two-run, walk-off home run and the Chicago Cubs came back to beat the Colorado Rockies 6-4 at Wrigley Field. The victory snapped a franchise-record 13-game losing streak at the Friendly Confines. Chicago had not won at home since July 26th.
Craig Kimbrel threw a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth to allow the go-ahead run, and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Chicago White Sox 2-1 Monday night at Rogers Centre.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz returned to practice Monday morning, just three weeks after undergoing foot surgery. Coach Frank Reich said the 28-year-old signal caller looked good, but that the question now is how does Wentz’s surgically repaired foot respond. Indy also got left guard Quenton Nelson and center Ryan Kelly back on the practice field in a limited capacity. Like Wentz, Nelson underwent foot surgery, while Kelly has been nursing an elbow injury suffered late last month.
