The Pike County School Corporation has issued a mask mandate for the next two weeks, effective this morning.
In a statement issued Sunday afternoon, Pike County Schools say that mask will be required in all schools in the Pike County School Corporation for the next two weeks.  The mandate applies to all students, staff, and visitors regardless of vaccination status.   Masks will not be worn when students are physically active, such at during recess, physical education, or when participating in athletic events or practices.    The Pike County School Corporation says that the mask requirement will allow the distance used for contact tracing to 3 ft. when masks are worn.  The contact tracing will remain at 6 ft. when masks are not worn.
Pike County says this adjustment should reduce the number of individuals that will be quarantined and increase the number of students able to remain in the classroom.
Pike Central High School and Pike Central Middle School will resume a regular schedule this morning.  The Pike County School System says it will continue to monitor data and review options that will best serve their students and staff during the coming weeks.
