Louis H. Showers IV, 67, of Washington, passed away at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana. Louis was born on March 29, 1954, to Louis and Mary Jane (Bundy) Showers in Jamestown, New York.
Louis was a 1972 graduate of Goshen High School. He attended Grace College and Grace Theological Seminary where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Bible/Biblical Languages and Master of Divinity. On December 16, 1978, Louis married the love of his life, Wanita (Bontrager) Showers and they spent 42 years together happily married.
Louis spent his lifetime devoting himself to ministry and preaching the gospel. He spent over 30 years serving many communities and helping people find the Lord. He started his ministry career at Fundamental Gospel Church in Marengo, IA, where he spent five years serving the congregation. Louis then served the Beth-El Bible Church in Surry, NH for eight and a half years before moving to Park Bible Church in Pennsville, NJ. In 2003, Louis and his family moved to Washington, Indiana where he accepted the Pastoral position at Grace Baptist Church. He served his community for 18 years and did so passionately. He loved to study God’s word and share it with others. It was Louis desire for every person he met to have salvation. Louis preached the bible unapologetically.
In his spare time, Louis loved model railroading and more specifically the Erie Lackawanna Railroad. He was a huge Buffalo Bills fan and loved watching their games any chance he was given. Louis also loved to spend time with his family, and he was very proud of them all.
Surviving Louis is his wife, Wanita of Washington, IN, his father Louis Showers, children, Jason Showers and Meredith Showers both of Washington, his brother James Showers (Diane), sisters Chris Hilbish (Kim) and Faith Moser (Marty), his mother-in-law Hazel Ann, brother in laws and sister in laws, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary, and his father-in-law.
Visitation for Louis will be held on Thursday September 23, 2021, at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St. in Washington, IN from 4:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 24, 2021, at Grace Baptist Church 418 E. Highland Ave. Washington, IN at 1:00pm with Pastor Fernando Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks the memorial contributions to be made to Grace Baptist Church, 418 E Highland Ave. in Washington, IN.
