The Barr-Reeve Vikings improved their record with a 3-0 win over Wood Memorial at the Barr-Reeve Arena on Monday night. The Vikings won 25-22, 25-19 and 25-20 to improve their varsity record to 14-7. With the win the Vikings improved their Blue Chip Conference record to 5-0. The JV also won to improve to 12-5. The Vikings are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Vincennes Lincoln and are back at home on Thursday as they take on North Knox.
North Daviess Tennis claimed the SWIAC Conference championship yesterday. Jalen Mullen was the singles champ, while Devin Collins, Brooks Helms, and Markus Britton and Colin Kemp were named all conference. The Cougars open the sectional tournament tomorrow against White River Valley at 4:30pm. In the other sectional match up at North Daviess, Bloomfield will face Linton.
At Vincennes, South Knox will face Vincennes Lincoln, while Washington will open against Vincennes Rivet.

Joey Votto hit two home runs and the Cincinnati Reds dominated the Pittsburgh Pirates 13-1 Monday at Great American Ball Park. Votto hit a two-run homer in the first and then blasted another two-run shot in the fourth. Nick Castellanos has gone deep in four straight games after he hit a three-run home run in the sixth. He added two sacrifice flies to finish with five RBI. Jonathan India connected on a two-run bomb in the seventh to finish the scoring. The Reds clinched their second straight winning season with their 82nd win. Cincinnati is five and a half games behind the Cardinals for the second National League wild card spot.
Former Indianapolis 500 winner and IndyCar champion Simon Pagenaud will drive for Meyer Shank Racing in 2022. Pagenaud spent the last seven seasons with Team Penske, where he won the 2016 IndyCar title and compiled 11 victories, including the 2019 Indy 500. The 37-year-old Frenchman will team up with his former Penske teammate Helio Castroneves at Meyer Shank Racing. Castroneves drove part-time for the team this year, including his fourth Indy 500 victory in May, and will compete full-time in 2022. Pagenaud will pilot the number 60 Honda, replacing Jack Harvey, who elected to leave the team at the end of the season.
The Indianapolis Colts continue to deal with injuries as they try to avoid an 0-4 start Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. All-Pro left guard Quenton Nelson left last week’s loss to the Titans with an ankle sprain and his status is uncertain, according to coach Frank Reich. Nelson has dealt with a variety of ailments since last offseason, but has yet to miss a game in his NFL career. Quarterback Carson Wentz played through two sprained ankles against Tennessee, although he re-aggravated one of his ankles late in the game.
