The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a bye week this weekend but it’s still a busy college football weekend in the Hoosier state. Both Indiana and Purdue take on top 10 teams from around the Midwest. The Hoosiers will welcome the Michigan State Spartans who are ranked 10th in the nation. State’s Kenneth Walker III already has nine rushing touchdowns and leads the country in rushing yards with 913 through six games. The Purdue Boilermakers head to Iowa City to take on the No. 2 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa narrowly escaped Penn State last week and ranks fourth in the country in team defense allowing just 13 points per game. The Boilermakers are looking for their first win against a ranked opponent since beating none other than Iowa on November 3rd, 2018.
One week after losing the NL Wild Card Game to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the St. Louis Cardinals have made a managerial change. Mike Shildt is out as the club’s manager in a move announced yesterday. The Cardinals cited a “philosophical difference” for the move, and called it strictly a “baseball decision.” The Cardinals say they have “some quality internal candidates” for the manager’s position, adding they are “not really prepared” to say whether they will look outside the organization. Shildt has been with the club for 13 years, serving as manager the last three seasons.
