Safe Haven Baby Box Arrives in Princeton

A new Safe Haven Baby Box will soon be available for use in Princeton.
The Princeton Daily Clarion reports that the Princeton Fire Territory’s new Safe Haven Baby Box has arrived.
The option for infant surrender in Gibson County will be available once training is completed in the next couple of weeks.
The baby box will be located at the fire station at Embree and Brumfield. It was approved by the Princeton City Council and Princeton Fire Territory earlier this summer.
The boxes allow a safe way for mothers to surrender their newborn child. Once the child is placed inside the temperature-controlled box, authorities are immediately notified.
11 babies have been surrendered in Indiana with these boxes since 2017.
