A former Washington High School Soccer Coach will be joining the ranks of the Hall of Fame this Sunday. Kevin Myers former Boys Soccer Coach at Washington who introduced the sport to Washington High School and was the first coach leading the team beginning in 1992 will be enshrined in a special ceremony this Sunday. Myers coached at Washington from 1992 to 2010 and compiled a record of 312 wins, 79 losses, and 24 ties, 14 Big 8 conference championships, 15 sectional titles, nine regionals, five semi state crowns, and a runner up finish at state in 1998. Myers was named coach of the year for eight years. He has had 26 former players play at the collegiate level, and then go on to coach the sport at some level. The induction will happen this Sunday. The Indianapolis Colts host the New York Jets Thursday night at Lucas Oil Stadium in the Colts’ first primetime home game in four years. Indianapolis is 10.5-point favorites coming off of Sunday’s overtime loss to the Titans. The Colts are 3-5, while New York is 2-5, but is coming off a stunning victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Colts All-Pro left guard Quenton Nelson is questionable with a toe injury. Indianapolis will be without wide receiver T.Y. Hilton due a concussion and safety Khari Willis because of a calf injury. The Colts and Jets get underway at 8:20 p.m. Eastern Thursday.
Brownsburg native Tucker Barnhart is now a member of the Detroit Tigers. The Cincinnati Reds catcher was traded to the Tigers in exchange for a minor league prospect Wednesday. Barnhart had been a member of the Reds organization since being selected by Cincinnati in the 2009 draft. He made his MLB debut in 2014 and has been the Reds’ main catcher since 2015. The 30-year-old hit .247 with seven homers in 116 games in 2021, and Barnhart was named the National League Gold Glove winner at catcher in 2017 and 2020. The Tigers will reportedly pick up his 7.5 million dollar team option for 2022. Barnhart thanked the Reds organization in a tweet and said he’s ready to help bring a championship to the Motor City.
Myles Turner scored 25 points and hit a career-high seven 3-pointers, and the Indiana Pacers beat the New York Knicks 111-98 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Blue and Gold jumped out to an 11-0 lead with eight points from Turner, and never trailed en route to their second straight win. New York got within two in the fourth quarter, but T.J. McConnell hit a 3-pointer, followed by a Goga Bitadze steal and layup to extend Indiana’s lead back to seven. Turner finished 7-of-10 from 3-point range and had 25 points and 13 rebounds. Caris LeVert scored 21, while Malcolm Brogdon contributed 17 points, eight rebounds, seven assists in his return to action after missing three games with a hamstring injury. Indiana is 3-6 and begins a four-game West Coast trip Friday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.
