Joe Hartzburg, 84, passed away on December 4, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on June 8, 1937 in Vincennes and was the son of Robert and Laura (Theriac) Hartzburg. Joe married Rita Fleck on November 28, 1959.
Joe was a department manager for the Kroeger Company for forty- two years retiring in 1997. He enjoyed antique cars and playing golf in his younger years. Most importantly though, Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Rita Hartzburg of Vincennes; son, Kevin Hartzburg and his wife Lisa of New Palestine, IN; daughter, Karla Smith and her husband Tim of Vincennes; grandchildren, Matt Hartzburg, Shelby McCormick and her husband David, Alex Smith, and his great grandson, William James McCormick arriving in April of 2022. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, son, Brett DeWayne Hartzburg who passed away on December 4, 1960, sister, Margaret Webber, brothers, Levi, Robert, Bill, Dexter, Richard Hartzburg, and his in laws, Fred and Fern Fleck.
Friends may visit with Joe’s family and friends from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN with Rev. Dr. Lanny Lawler officiating. Joe will be laid to rest in Upper Indiana Cemetery next to his son Brett. The Hartzburg family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Vincennes Salvation Army, 2300 N. 2nd St., Vincennes, IN or Good Samaritan Hospice, 601 S. 9th Street, Vincennes, IN.
