Barr Reeve, North Daviess, and Loogootee again hold the 1,2, and 3 spots in the Class A Boys Basketball rankings this week. Barr Reeve improved to 4-1 last night with a big win on the road over Bloomington South 42-39. The Vikings will play again Saturday Against Central Noble at Southport. Tip off at 3:30pm.
South Knox beat North Knox 34-28.
Vincennes Lincoln lost at Evansville Central 56-50.
Girls basketball yesterday, the Washington Lady Hatchets jumped out early and never looked back topping Loogootee at the Hatchet House 60-17. Kencia Lavasseur led with 17 points, while Alaina Thorne added 16 as both were honored before the game for joining the 1,000 point club at Washington. Coach Gretchen Miles also received a special game ball for recording 200 career victories. The Lady Hatchets will travel to Tell City Saturday afternoon, with tip-off at 2:30pm.
North Daviess girls fell to North Central 55-32.
The 5th grade Hatchet boys basketball team improved their season to 3 and 1 with a win over Loogootee Monday night in a well played defensive game 23-13. Dylan Stowers led the way with 14 points, Hunter Newland scored 3 points followed by Noah Rhoads, Armani Sandoval and Nick Headly all with 2 points each. The 5th grade boys travel to Vincennes Wednesday night.
After 23 years of pulling, and the last 20 all over the country on the national circuit, the Green Streak Pulling Team and the Boyd Family have decided to retire from the sport. The Boyd’s want to thank all of the competitors and fans who have supported them over the years. The team ended on a high note with their 10th National Points Championship in 2021. Congratulations on a great career to the Green Streak Pulling Team and the Boyd Family.
Indiana goes on the road for the first time in Big Ten play to take on 22nd-ranked Wisconsin Wednesday night at Kohl Center. IU is 7-1 overall, but is 0-1 on the road after a loss at Syracuse last week. Indiana is 1-0 in Big Ten play after a 13-point home victory over Nebraska Saturday. The Badgers are 7-1 and have won five in a row. The Hoosiers have not won in Madison since 1998 and are four-point underdogs. Wisconsin sophomore guard Johnny Davis leads the team in points, rebounds, assists and steals. Indiana is led by All-American forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, who averages 21 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game. The Hoosiers and Badgers tip off at 7 p.m. Eastern on BTN.
The Pacers welcome the New York Knicks to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for a Wednesday night tilt. The Blue and Gold snapped a four-game losing streak with a victory over the Washington Wizards Monday night. Indiana is 10-16 and has played the Knicks twice already this season. The Pacers beat the Knicks at home November 3rd and fell to New York at Madison Square Garden November 15th. The Knicks are 12-12 and are coming off a win at San Antonio Tuesday night. Pacers guard T.J. McConnell could be out for the rest of the season. McConnell underwent surgery on torn ligaments in his right hand, and will be in a cast for 10-to-12 weeks before being re-evaluated.
