The Patoka Township Fire Department in Pike County is sending a friendly reminder to area residents.
They say as the first rounds of snow are falling, they want to remind everyone to drive slowly, allow extra time, and leave a little more space between you and the car in front of you.
They say bridges and over passes freeze first and that this is also a good time to get your winter emergency kits in your vehicles.
Recommended supplies are bottled water, granola bars or protein bars, a blanket, flashlight, medical kit, road flares or glow sticks, hand warmers, and extra gloves.
Authorities remind everyone to stay safe and be prepared as the cold takes hold.
