The Barr Reeve Vikings improved to 8-6 and 3-0 in the Blue-Chip Conference with a win at the Bird Cage last night over WC 83-27. Kayden Graber set a new school record and Blue-Chip Conference record with 10 3’s in the game. Next up for the Vikings will be Loogootee on Friday night, while the Cardinals travel to Wood Memorial on Friday.
The Pike Central Chargers edged out Vincennes Lincoln last night 40-39.
In girls hoops yesterday, Barr Reeve topped Washington Catholic 51-9 in game one at the Bird Cage. Barr Reeve is now 7-12 and will return home tomorrow against NE Dubois, the Lady Cards are 2-10 and back at home with Cannelton tomorrow.

Just a reminder, one week from Sunday, January 23rd will be the IHSAA Girls Basketball tournament pairings show and the sectional draw. This year Washington will host the 3A tournament at the Hatchet House, North Knox will be the site for the 2A Sectional, and North Daviess will be the 1A tournament home with sectional play beginning the week of February 1st.
Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya will once again compete in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing with Arrow McLaren SP. The 46-year-old Colombian will drive the number six Chevrolet in his seventh attempt at the Indy 500. Montoya won the race as a rookie in 2000 with Chip Ganassi Racing, before embarking on a career in Formula One and later NASCAR. He returned to IndyCar with Team Penske in 2014, and won the “500” the next year. Montoya returned to 16th and Georgetown last May after a three-year hiatus and finished ninth in a part-time effort with Arrow McLaren SP. Montoya will also compete in the IndyCar grand prix on the IMS road course in May.
Notre Dame hosts Clemson in an ACC showdown Wednesday night in South Bend. The Fighting Irish have won five in a row to run their record to 9-5. Clemson is 10-5 and the Tigers have won five out of six. Notre Dame and Clemson tip off at 7 p.m. Eastern. The 1976 Indiana Hoosiers can breathe easy. The last two undefeated teams in college basketball each lost Tuesday, ensuring that the ‘76 Hoosiers remain the last team to go a full season without losing. Top-ranked Baylor fell to Texas Tech, and number five USC lost to Stanford. In-state action last night, Akron beat Ball State 84-74. Northern Iowa defeated Indiana State 80-74 in overtime, and Loyola Chicago beat Valparaiso in a thriller 79-74 in two overtimes.
The Indianapolis Colts’ opponents have been finalized for the 2022 season. In addition to AFC South foes Tennessee, Houston and Jacksonville, the Colts will have five more home games. Indy will host Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers from the AFC West. Former offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni will lead the Philadelphia Eagles back to Lucas Oil Stadium, and the Colts will also face the Washington Football Team and the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. A number of interesting road trips await the Colts in addition to the traditional division opponents. Indy will play at Las Vegas and Denver, in addition to trips to Dallas, New England, Minnesota, and New York to face the Giants. The full schedule is expected to be released in May.
The Indiana Pacers welcome the Boston Celtics to Gainbridge Fieldhouse Wednesday night. It’s a rematch of the Celtics’ overtime victory over the Blue and Gold Monday night in Boston. Pacers guard Caris LeVert and big man Goga Bitadze have been cleared to return from the NBA’s health and safety protocols after missing the last five games. Both are both questionable as they recondition to return. Rookie Chris Duarte is questionable after the birth of his daughter, and point guard Malcolm Brogdon is questionable with a sore right Achilles that has sidelined him for the last nine games. The Pacers have lost seven out of eight, while the Celtics are winners of four out of six, but have lost six in a row on the road. Boston and Indiana get underway at 7 p.m. Eastern.
