Council Approves Funds for Law Enforcement Training Center

The Daviess County Council met on Wednesday to take care of new year business.
According to the Washington Times Herald, Matt Meredith was selected as Board President with Mike Sprinkle was appointed Vice President.
The board also approved several appropriations throughout the course of the meeting including salaries for many county offices.
Among those was an appropriation of $20,000 to $30,000 to be used for a new Law Enforcement Training Center in Daviess County.
The money will come from a forfeiture fund and not taxpayers.
Money from this fund is acquired through seizure of funds from convicted criminals and fees.
Daviess County Prosecutor Dan Murrie noted that new facility will be for Law Enforcement only and will focus on tactics and improving policing in the city and county.
