An Evansville man is headed to federal prison for sexually abusing a child.
A woman reported 33-year-old Todd Johnson to Evansville Police after she glanced at his phone while he was was asleep and saw a sexually explicit picture of a child.
Johnson woke up, realized what was happening, and took off, but he forgot to bring his phone with him.
He was quickly found and arrested.
Investigators say Johnson used prescription drugs to put the child to sleep before sexually abusing them.
He’s been sentenced to over 17 years in federal prison.
According to a release from FBI Indianapolis, the Southern District of Indiana was second out of the 94 federal districts in the country for the number of child sexual exploitation cases prosecuted.
