Star guard Jaden Ivey did not play due to a hip flexor. The Boilers improved to 16-3 overall and 5-3 in the Big Ten, and have beaten Northwestern 10 straight times. Purdue is back in action Thursday night at Iowa.
Indiana had arguably its worst defensive game of the season and lost to Michigan 80-62 Sunday afternoon at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Michigan big man Hunter Dickinson had 25 points and nine rebounds, and made 9-of-12 from the field, including three 3-pointers. Caleb Houstan added 19 for the Wolverines, which shot 56 percent from the field. Indiana fell behind 16 in the first half before cutting the deficit to six. The Wolverines quickly re-extended the lead back to 16 early in the second half and never looked back. The Hoosiers dropped to 14-5 overall, and 12-1 at home. IU has lost nine straight to Michigan, and the Hoosiers host Penn State Wednesday night in Bloomington.
The Indiana Pacers conclude a five-game road trip Monday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. Indiana is coming off a loss Saturday night at Phoenix, and the Blue and Gold are 17-30 overall.
Josh Allen and the Bills were firing on all cylinders in the closing minutes of Sunday night’s divisional-round showdown with the Chiefs. But Patrick Mahomes came to play, as well. He led the Chiefs on a last-minute drive to set up a game-tying field goal, then finding Travis Kelce on the first possession of overtime to send Kansas City back to the AFC title game with a 42-36 victory.
The road to Super Bowl 56 is down to four teams after a crazy NFL weekend. The Rams will host San Francisco in the NFC Championship Game after LA knocked off Tom Brady and the defending-champion Buccaneers on a last second field goal. The Niners advanced with a stunning upset after eliminating Aaron Rodgers and the top-seeded Packers, also on a game-winning field goal. The Cincinnati Bengals topped the Tennessee Titans and will face the Chiefs in the AFC Championship. Kansas City outlasted the Buffalo Bills in overtime to advance to their fourth straight title game. The winners next Sunday will meet for the Big Game on Sunday, February 13th at Sofi Stadium in LA.
It may be the end for football titan Aaron Rodgers. The Packers lost to the San Francisco 49ers 13 to 10 in the NFC divisional playoffs Saturday night. After the game, Rodgers said he needs to talk to some people, take some time away, and make a decision. He’s called the Packers home for the last 17 NFL seasons.
