Roy “Bud” Burton, 83, passed away February 1, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 10, 1938, in Cornettsville, to Rector and Jenny (Ferguson) Burton. On April 7, 1962, he married the love of his life, Patricia Kay (Kline) Burton, and she survives.
Roy was retired from Eaton Monument where he was a stone cutter. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard. Roy enjoyed making ink pens, woodworking, hunting and fishing; and in 1998, he won the Eagles State Bowling Tournament. He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles Lodge, and attended the Bethany Christian Church and the First Baptist Church.
Those who now mourn the loss of Roy include his wife of fifty-nine years, Patricia Kay Burton; sons: David E. (Denese) Burton of Washington; Rex (Jo Ann) Burton of Washington; and Don (Michele) Burton of Salem. Roy was blessed with several grandchildren: Kyle (Jenna) Burton; Kelsey Burton; Tiadawn (Preston) Ratliff; Tristan (Emily) Burton; Garrett Burton; Mackenzie Underwood; Joshua Burton; Sidney Burton; Tamara (Hunter) Hitt; and Kiesha Kiser. There are six great-grandchildren: Owen Burton; Emmett Ratliff; Ean Ratliff; Lila Ratliff; Alexis Burton; and Isaac Burton. Roy also leaves a sister, Opal Miles of Washington.
During his lifetime, Roy felt the loss of his parents, Rector and Jenny Burton; a daughter, Krista Baker; sisters: Cathy Clark, Thelma Claunch, Hazel Reed, Lucille Burton, and Lois Wilson; brothers: Harley Burton, Chester Burton, Lloyd Burton, Carl Burton, and Hobert Burton.
Visitation for Roy Burton will be 4:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, North Chapel, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation, beginning at 7:00 pm, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, North Chapel. Pastor Tom Watson will officiate. Interment will be in the Sugarland Memory Gardens.
