Darlene Marie Kordes, 82, passed away at 5:00 am on January 30, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Darlene was born on June 18, 1939 in Dubois County, IN and she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Schneider) Jahn. Darlene married Dennis Alois Kordes on January 16, 1960 and he preceded her in death on October 4, 2014.
Darlene was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Bloomfield, IN. She was a licensed beautician, homemaker, and worked at Pioneer as a seasonal employee for 13 years. She enjoyed gardening and had beautiful flowers on her property that she took great pride in. Darlene also co-managed the family cattle farm and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Sheila Salsman and her husband Glen of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Dennis M. Kordes of Vincennes, IN, Kristine Kordes of Noblesville, IN; her grandchildren, Michael Salsman, Justin Salsman, Lindsey Whitehouse, Erin Gillingham, Casey Gillingham, Aidan Walker, and Ava Walker; her great grandchildren, Jenna Whitehouse and Madelynn Whitehouse; as well as three sisters, Dottie Boeckman of Jasper, Shirley Heichelbech of Evansville, and Sally Lee of Jasper. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dennis Alois Kordes, son, Kelly Kordes, and daughter-in-law, Paula Kordes.
The Kordes family will hold a private Mass of Christian Burial in the spring and Darlene will be laid to rest in the Kordes Family Cemetery in Greene County.
