Evansville Police Deal with Weekend Hostage Situation

Evansville Police dealt with a hostage situation Friday.
WFIE says they received a call about a hostage situation by an unknown caller.
They forwarded the info to police, who later informed them that the suspect had called multiple agencies and police departments.
On Saturday morning, police found the body of Phillip Dill. Dill died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Sgt. Nick Winsett with Evansville Police said they tried to negotiate with Dill, until he “forced their hand.”
Police shot Dill and were able to rescue the woman being held hostage.
The woman was not harmed.
Several children were also removed from the home.
Police did not discuss why he took them hostage.
