The Washington Lady Hatchets saw an amazing season come to an end last night with a tough loss to Vincennes Lincoln in the 3A Girls sectional championship 66-61. Washington ends the year at 22-4. Vincennes will advance to the Charlestown Regional on Saturday to face Gibson Southern who defeated Evansville Memorial 61-57. Good luck to the Lady Alices this weekend.

North Knox is the 2A Sectional champion as they topped South Knox in another close game 36-32. North Knox will square off with South Ripley at noon Saturday in Crawford County.

The Barr Reeve Lady Vikings fell short in their 1A Tournament run at North Daviess losing to Vincennes Rivet in the championship 32-19. Barr Reeve will end their year at 11-16. Rivet will face Lanesville at West Washington on Saturday.

Remember the Washington Hatchet Boys will return to action tomorrow as they host Brownstown Central in a pick up game at the Hatchet House. JV tips off at 6:00 pm.

Last night, Bedford held off Loogootee in boys basketball in overtime 53 to 51 in a thriller.

Jasper was over Mater Dei 55 to 34.

Shoals was over Bloomington Lighthouse 48 to 31.

Tonight, Pike Central travels to Tecumseh.

Vincennes Rivet will host Wood Memorial.

Shoals is at home against Springs Valley.

Third-ranked Purdue beat number 13 Illinois 84-68 Tuesday night at a raucous Mackey Arena. Jaden Ivey scored 22 of his game-high 26 points in the second half, as the Boilermakers moved into a tie atop the Big Ten standings. The Boilers are 10-3 in league play, along with Illinois and Wisconsin. Purdue trailed by two at halftime, but came out of the locker room on a 16-8 run. Purdue has won six straight and is 21-3 overall. Eric Hunter scored all nine of his points early in the second half, and Zach Edey added 13. The Fighting Illini were led by Kofi Cockburn’s (CO-burn’s) 18 points, and dropped to 17-6. The Boilers swept the season series over Illinois, but Matt Painter’s team does not have time to rest. Indiana was short-handed, and lost at Northwestern 59-51. Hoosiers coach Mike Woodson suspended five players, which decimated the Hoosiers’ backcourt. The players included Xavier Johnson, Parker Stewart, Tamar Bates, Khristian Lander and Michael Durr. Trayce Jackson-Davis had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Indiana, which was outscored by 12 in the second half. Without any point guards, Trey Galloway equaled his career high with 13 points, but had two flagrant fouls and fouled out in the final minutes. The Hoosiers dropped to 16-7 overall and 7-6 in the Big Ten, and it does not get any easier. IU plays at Michigan State Saturday. Northwestern took control with a 13-0 run in the second half, and was led by Boo Buie’s 18 points. The Wildcats have won three in a row.

Butler lost to Creighton 54-52 Tuesday night in Omaha.

The Pacers fell to the Atlanta Hawks 133-112 on the road. Because of injuries and the trade that sent three players to the Kings, Indiana had just eight players available.
