The Daviess County Commissioners met for their regular session yesterday morning.
The Commissioners first heard from Daviess County Highway Department Supervisor Chris Winkler who reported the department had used over 600 tons of a salt/sand mixture over the course of the winter storm.
He gave high praise to all the highway workers who came in to work on their time off to help plow the roads. The Commissioners also gave high praise to the highway workers.
While speaking, Winkler also noted that longtime highway department employee Thomas Jefferson Petty was retiring after 37 years of service to the county. Petty started at the department in 1985 and his last day will be February 25, 2022.
In other business, the board approved a contract with Malcon as well a contract with MicroVote for maintenance of the county’s voting machines.
The Commissioners also clarified the explanation of benefits in the County Attorney’s Contract.
Finally, the board heard from Attorney Grant Swartzentruber, who provided legal clarification on a surveying bid that was discussed during the last meeting.
