Helen Dean, 102, passed away on February 12, 2022, at The Villages at Oak Ridge in Washington, Indiana.
She was born in Plainville, Indiana, on July 1, 1919, to the late Louis and Eva Powell. She was the second of four children, Ivan Powell, Ethel Auberry, and Donald Powell, all of whom preceded her in death.
Helen graduated from Plainville High School in 1937 and married Rollin Dean on June 12, 1947. They were married for 74 years until Rollin preceded her in death on September 21, 2021. Helen and Rollin are survived by their three children, Ronald (Gwen) Dean of Indianapolis, Indiana, Betty Dean of Carmel, Indiana, and Marilyn Jo (Roger) Banks of Washington, Indiana.
Helen retired from NWSC Crane in 1985. Following both her and Rollin’s retirement, they enjoyed travelling. Helen was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and throughout her life she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her three children, Helen is survived by her two granddaughters, Christy (Deen) Rogers and Michelle (Adam) Hatcher, both of Indianapolis, her three great grandchildren, Brittni Knox, Tyler Knox, Brandon Williamson, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Helen will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St. Washington, Indiana 47501 from 1:00 – 2:00pm. A funeral service will begin at 2:00pm with Heart-to-Heart Hospice Clergy Cindy Lagel to officiate. Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband at Sugarland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 104 N Meridian St. in Washington, Indiana.
