The Daviess County Commissioners met on Tuesday for their regular session.
During the meeting, the board addressed the courthouse renovation project. The project has been long discussed and county leaders took a big step forward during yesterday’s meeting. The Commissioners approved a contract with Garmong Construction appointing the company as a Pre-Construction Consultant. Company leaders say they will do a walk through of the courthouse in March and hear from all parties as they look to move forward with project.
In personnel action, the board accepted the resignation of West Boggs Park Superintendent Jameson Hibbs and approved the reappointment of Dr. Merle Holsopple as the Local Health Officer.
In addition, Commissioner Nathan Gabhart brought of up the issue of blighted properties in Daviess County. Gabhart noted the properties have received several notices, but issues with jurisdiction with nearby municipalities led to no resolve. The board agreed to investigate the matter further to get the properties taken care of.
Finally, the board approved the 2022 Insurance Renewals. One of the changes included adding reserve deputies to the county’s workman’s comp policy per new state statute.
