At last nights Washington City Council Meeting, the Council gave final approval to ordinances vacating an unused utility easement in the Sundale Park subdivision and amending the City’s salary schedule.
An ordinance regulating the keeping of livestock inside city limits was tabled after questions were raised about how to handle waivers for properties where residents have historically kept animals, or organizations such as the 4-H barns and the Saddle Club.
Following the business portion of the meeting, Mayor David Rhoads gave the annual State of the City Address.
Rhoads pointed to the completion of phase 2 of the National Highway project, the Wastewater department’s phosphorous removal facility, as well as the combined dispatch agreement as major accomplishments.
Rhoads also said that despite fighting through the COVID pandemic over the past two years, the city workers have kept the city running. He said to look for big things in the City of Washington in 2022.
You can hear a rebroadcast of the address at 8:30 am this Saturday on Focus on the Community on Memories 107.9 FM.
