Knox County Leaders Continue EMS Discussions

Knox County officials held a special meeting on Monday to talk about ambulance service.
The joint session included the Knox County Council, County Commissioners, the City of Vincennes, and the City of Bicknell.
Last year, Knox County EMS told county leaders that they would no longer serve the county on account of not receiving a subsidy.
Knox County EMS’s contract will end this summer.
Knox County officials are now looking at implementing a public service tax to subsidize emergency services.
The Knox County Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed public safety tax tonight.
Meanwhile, three proposals are on the table for the county’s ambulance service.
One is from Knox County EMS and the other two are AMR Ambulance in Evansville and Good Samaritan Hospital.
County officials have asked the three entities to amend their proposals based on Monday’s discussions.
They will be reevaluated later this month.
