Severe Weather Preparedness Week: Response After a Storm

national-weather-service

Severe Weather Preparedness Week continues today in Indiana. Today, the National Weather Service is highlighting response during disaster. The National Weather Service says knowing what to do during a disaster is a key part of preparing for one as a Weather Ready Nation. They say there are response activities that should take place during or shortly after a storm. Some of those include, assessing medical needs, evacuating to safe areas or shelters, turning off gas or electricity, monitoring your television or radio for emergency orders, and initiating your Family Disaster Plan. You can also report damage through an IDHS website if requested. To learn more about this topic, or other topics in detail, visit weather.gov/ind/SevereWxWeek.
