Everyone working in a school in Indiana will now have their background checks on file.
Governor Eric Holcomb signed a new law that he says will stop some school employees from falling through the cracks.
The new law requires staffing companies and contractors to share employee background check information with schools.
Right now, that doesn’t always happen.
Lawmakers approved the law after Beach Grove Schools hired a teachers’ aide who’d been previously convicted of public indecency.
That teacher was later arrested for touching himself in front of his class.
