A multitude of fire crews responded to a large wildfire yesterday in Pike County.
The Patoka Township, Jefferson Township, Petersburg Fire, Spurgeon, Lockhart, Holland, Huntingburg, and Ireland Fire Departments all responded to the large wild fire on Tuesday.
Fire officials say the estimated acreage burnt was around 100 to 110 acres.
Some departments were able provide ATV’s to assist in reaching the deeper parts of the wooded areas.
There is no word on how the fire started.
Another smaller fire was reported on HWY 50 in Martin County at Max Warrens Curve yesterday.
The road was closed for about an hour due to the smoke.
Crews were able to get a handle on the fire within an hour.
