Mary Mandabach

Mary Mandabach, 78, passed away peacefully in Canandaigua, New York, March 28, 2022. She was born, January 23, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, to John and Vernetta (Schappert) Helsel. On November 28, 1964, Mary married John David Mandabach. They had been married fifty-four years when he passed away October 29, 2018.
Mary enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She worked many years in the New York School System, some of which included Penfield High School, Harris Hill Elementary, both in Penfield, New York. After moving to Williamsville, New York, Mary worked and retired from Erie 1 B.O.C.E.S., which is a unit involved in education.
Those who miss Mary and mourn her passing include her daughters, Cheryl (Scott) Peters, and Susan (Jeff) Blozen; her grandchildren: Johnathon (Samantha) Mandabach; Anthony (Anastasia) Blozen; Kaitlin (Rob) Gilman; and Kelsey (Kyle) Peters; great-grandchildren: Robbie Gilman; Benny Gilman; and Baby Boy Mandabach (who is on the way). She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews; and a brother, Lawrence (Sharon) Helsel.
Mary is now reunited with loved ones who preceded her in death: parents, John and Vernetta Helsel; husband, John D. Mandabach; brother, William Helsel; and sister, Luada (Babe Helsel) Sellers.
The family of Mary Mandabach is deeply grateful for the wonderful doctors, nurses, and the care team at the M. M. Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua, New York. She was cared for with compassion and dignity.
Graveside services for Mary Mandabach will be held at 12:00 noon, April 9, 2022, at the St. John Cemetery, Washington, Indiana. Yvonne Evans will officiate. Mary will be laid to rest beside her husband, John D. Mandabach in the St. John Cemetery.
