Washington baseball fell in their opener on the road at Jasper last night 7-1. The Hatchets travel to Sullivan tonight.

The North Daviess Cougars got the invite to play in the prestigious Hall of Fame Basketball Classic later this year. The State Champs will face North Wood on Friday December 30th at 11:00 am. In the other boys match up, Ben Davis will play Penn. on the girls side, Bedford North Lawrence will play Mishawaka Marian, while Noblesville takes on East Central. Congrats to the Cougars. North Daviess will also be recognized Tuesday night at halftime of the Pacers vs Philadelphia game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Indiana Pacers go on the road Friday night to face the Boston Celtics. The Blue and Gold are shorthanded, and will look to snap a five-game losing streak. The Celtics have been red hot, but have dropped their last two games. Boston has gone 24-6 over its past 30 games to go from under .500 to fourth in the Eastern Conference standings and just two games out of first place. The Blue and Gold nearly completed a historic 31-point comeback against the Denver Nuggets Wednesday night, but fell short. Indiana is 1-2 against Boston this season. The Celtics won back-to-back games in January, and the Pacers dominated Boston late last month in Indianapolis thanks to 17 3-pointers. The Celtics are favored by 9.5 points, with tip off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
Purdue sophomore star Jaden Ivey announced he is officially entering the 2022 NBA Draft. The South Bend native averaged 17.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game this past season for the Boilermakers. The 6-foot-4 athletic guard was a First Team All-Big Ten selection and a second-team All-American. Ivey said in a social media statement that it is a lifelong dream of his, and said he is beyond excited for the opportunity. He is projected as a top-five pick in June’s draft, which would be the highest draft pick out of Purdue since Glenn Robinson went number one overall in 1994. Ivey attended Mishawaka Marian High School before transferring to La Lumiere School in La Porte for his senior season.
The Cinderella story continues for Shaheen Holloway. After leading Saint Peter’s to become the first 15th seed in NCAA basketball history to make the elite eight, the former Peacock is now a Pirate. Shaheen accepted the head coaching job for Seton Hall. He is so beloved that 15 players from his Saint Peter’s team were in the audience to applaud him when he was introduced as Seton Hall’s new coach. After being introduced for his new job, he said his success was all due to his Saint Peter’s players.
Todd Bowles will now be the face of the Tampa Bay Bucs next to Tom Brady. The NFL team moved the defensive coordinator to the head coaching position after Bruce Arians decided to take a front-office role with the organization. This is another major shake-up for the franchise after Tom recently decided to unretire and come back for another run at a Super Bowl. Rumors of friction between Arians and the quarterback legend are all untrue.
