The Daviess County Museum welcomes documentary producer and author Todd Gould back to Washington as a guest speaker on April 21st at 6:30 PM.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Todd is a native of Washington who has gone on to a successful and award-winning career creating television documentaries and will be on hand to share some of his experiences and how growing up in Daviess County shaped his life.
Todd has been the recipient of 20 Emmy Awards and more than 50 Emmy nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is also a six-time winner for Best Documentary from the Indiana Film Society. He has been recognized as a Crystal Heart Award winner from the Heartland Film Festival. Gould was also honored as the national winner of the Fourth Estate Award from the American Legion for a body of work that recognizes and celebrates American military history. His documentary films have been distributed and broadcast all over the world on networks such as PBS, A&E, ESPN, the BBC and The Learning Channel (TLC), among many others.
He is also the author of two books, Pioneers of the Hardwood, which celebrates the history of professional basketball teams in the United States, and For Gold and Glory, the little-known heritage of an African-American auto racing league that staged events throughout the Midwestern U.S. during the 1920s and ‘30s. Both books are based on Todd’s Emmy Award-winning documentary film projects by the same titles Todd has also penned a number of in-depth historical and cultural features and editorials for regional, national and international publications.
Todd’s most recent documentary films – The Music Makers of Gennett Records, Ernie Pyle: Life in the Trenches, and Singing Winds: The Life and Works of T.C. Steele – have earned several honors, including Emmy Awards and national Telly Awards, as well as recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists. His latest project on famed bicycle racer and civil rights activist Marshall “Major” Taylor, will debut on PBS in 2024. Todd is currently the Senior Producer/Director at WTIU television in Bloomington and an adjunct professor at the IU Media School teaching documentary film production.
