A dramatic come from behind win for the Hatchet Baseball team last night as they fought back after trailing 4-0 and scored five runs in the final two innings for a walk-off 5-4 over Tecumseh. An error on the final play of the game allowed Olson Kroeger to score the go-ahead run and even the Hatchet record to 4-4 on the seasons. Ashton Ostby was credited with the win coming on in relief of Caleb Armstrong. The Hatchets are back at it tonight at home with South Knox.
Barr Reeve shut down Shoals 10 to nothing in five innings yesterday. Keshawan Graber went the distance for the win. Barr Reeve is now 3-0 and plays at Bloomington North tonight at 6:00 pm and at Washington at 11:00 am Saturday morning.
South Knox beat Lawrenceville in 15 innings yesterday in softball 5-4.
A five run 6th inning rally allowed Southridge to move past Washington in softball as the Raiders got the win last night on their home field. Washington will host Heritage Hills tonight.
In Girls Tennis, Washington topped Loogootee 4-1.
Sullivan shut out Rivet 5-0.
South Knox was over NE Dubois 5-0.
Vincennes Lincoln fell to Evansville North 4-1.
The IHSAA announced Monday reclassifications in high school sports for several schools based on success factor and enrollment numbers. It was announced North Daviess would move to 2A in boys basketball. The Cougars have now petitioned the IHSAA to go up another class to 3A to compete next school year. Barring any major objections, which will likely not happen, the Cougars will now join the ranks in the same field as Washington for the 3A Boys Sectional beginning next school year. The Cougars are fresh off a big 1A State championship, the first in school history last season. North Daviess loses only two seniors from the championship team next year, and will play in the Hall of Fame Classic in New Castle coming up in December.

The group spoke to the student body yesterday afternoon, before hosting a community event last night.
Lawrence North High School basketball coach Jack Keefer is retiring after a legendary career spanning 50 years. The 78-year-old Keefer is the second-winningest high school coach in Indiana history with 865 victories to go with four state championships. He has coached at Lawrence North since the school opened in 1976, and served as the head coach at his alma mater Oak Hill High School, for four years before that. Keefer led the Wildcats to a state title in 1989, and then won three in a row from 2004 to 2006, in addition to a state runner-up finish in 2021. His 2006 team led by All-Americans Greg Oden and Mike Conley went 29-0, and was honored as the national champion. With Oden and Conley, LN had a state-record 50-game winning streak. He coached 17 Indiana All-Stars and three McDonald’s All-Americans. Keefer is a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
Indiana forward Race Thompson announced he is returning to the Hoosiers for his sixth and final season of eligibility. The 6-foot-8 Thompson averaged 11.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for IU this past season, and was a co-captain with Trayce Jackson-Davis. He has started in every game for the Hoosiers over the past two seasons. Thompson said in a statement, “I trust Coach Woodson and his plan for me to develop into the best player I can be to take my game to another level.” Woodson and the Hoosiers await the decision of Jackson-Davis, who has entered the NBA Draft, but has retained his college eligibility and could return to Bloomington for a fourth season. Thompson matriculated to IU from Minnesota in 2017, and redshirted as a freshman. He is eligible for a sixth year due to the NCAA’s blanket COVID waiver as a result of the COVID-19 impacted 2020-21 season.w
The Milwaukee Brewers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 Thursday in Milwaukee. Brandon Woodruff threw five shutout innings to earn the win. Adam Wainwright gave up four runs in four and a third innings and picked up the loss. The Chicago Cubs defeated the Colorado Rockies 5-2 in the Mile High City. Frank Schwindel homered and drove in two runs for the Cubs, which improved to 4-2. Seiya Suzuki doubled and drove in a run as part of a 3-run first inning. Suzuki has hit safely in each of his first six games with Chicago. The Los Angeles Dodgers scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-3 at Chavez Ravine. Dodgers catcher Will Smith drove in four, including a 3-run homer as part of the six-run eighth inning.
