Part of Petersburg is under a Boil Order.
The city, in consultation with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, has determined that water customers East of 12th Street in Petersburg, which includes HWY 57 and SR 356, should boil their drinking water.
The City of Petersburg says the precautionary measure is recommended because they are experiencing a drinking water problem within that service area.
It is recommended that all cooking and drinking water be brought to a complete boil for 5 minutes before use.
They say you should continue to boil all cooking and drinking water until they say it is no longer necessary.
In addition, city officials also ask that you conserve water and only use what is necessary for household and personal needs.
If you have any questions concerning the drinking water problem, please contact the Petersburg Water Department at (812)-354-8707
